Yay Science! Art

Once upon a time, back in the good old days of 2013, I had an idea to merge my love of anatomy and my love of art into abstract paintings. My hope was to bring those complicated internal and microscopic structures into homes and offices under the guise of simple lines and bright, pretty colours. The result was a now-defunct Etsy store called "Yay Science! Art", which was open for five years.

Tender Chordea Tendinaea

Dopamantic Neurotransmitter

Great Golgi Apparatus!

Naturally, most people perusing Etsy aren't going to search for chloroplasts or mitochondria to hang on their walls. Also naturally, I am no good at marketing. In that way, Yay Science! Art failed spectacularly. Three pieces sold, and the rest were given away to those who might find them good homes.

Fantastic Chloroplast

Myopic Myocyte

Un Ami Amoeba

The good news is post-YSA, I have been commissioned for paintings in the spirit of YSA, and as such, I am more than happy to take your commission, too! (If you have one, that is.) Here are a couple of pieces done specifically for actual science wizards, as gifts.

Emollient Ebola

Super VSV!

In addition, I am working to convert the Yay Science! Art collection (as well as the "outtakes" of my commissioned pieces) into cross stitch patterns, so stay tuned for those in the Cats x Coffee x Xstitch Etsy store!

If you're interested in having a custom, science-based painting made, please don't hesitate to send me an inquiry via my Commissions page to discuss pricing and options! I would LOVE to help make your life a little more abstract and anatomical!
